The modified stimulis
I choose ‘The Spectral Attitudes’ and ‘Wrapped trees’.

The first stimuli I chose was ‘The Spectral Attitudes’ by Andre Breton.
I think this poem is based on what the author found in his life, and created a poetic world that he saw through his eyes. Each line is strangely beautiful, even if it doesn't matter whether the previous line or the last line is written. His words give readers a sense of painting in their reading experience. Readers can't help imagining the world he describes, thus forming visual images in their minds. Although the author writes that he does not take his own life seriously, the lines he describes are very detailed and poetic. I don't think the author would have been able to make such a detailed observation I think if he hadn't been a subconscious lover of life. The beauty in the poem is surreal. It is difficult for readers to match the real scenery with the imaginary picture, but this makes the poem more mysterious. Different people have different interpretations of what’s connected in the poem.
My concept book is about the steampunk world, and it is based on the fantasy world imagined by people through the words in the novels during the industrial Revolution of Britain in reality. It is a creation of surrealism, a concept with complete system and strong style.

The second stimuli I chose was ‘Wrapped trees’.
I think it's a combination of things. Such as the combination of artificial cloth and nature, the painting tools of the past and the landscape of the present. This artwork has evolved from many sketches, and the painting tools and methods are different each time. I think continuous iteration can better show the texture of the material. But I think the shadow of the branches and the dynamic feeling of the cloth described in the introduction were discovered after the project was completed, as this possibility was not included in the sketch. This also shows that there are many uncertainties in the completion of a design, and people will gradually have new ideas and inspirations in the process of making it. It also echoes the dynamic nature of the fabric, which is impermanent
In the same way my concept book will include a combination of past and present. For example, if man had not discovered other sources of power and steam had been used to this day, what would the things we see in reality now look like?

I chose ‘The Tale of a Fairy’ and ‘Scarred For Life’.

The first stimuli I chose was' The Tale of a Fairy 'by Karl Lagerfeld. It's a movie show about the lives of the rich, the protagonist are three women. The clothes, environment and scenes in the film reflect the rich and luxurious life of the characters in the film. Throughout the film, there are hints of the span between different social classes and their incompatible lifestyles. The transformation of clothes of different classes in the film gives people a sense of difference. Rich women wear gorgeous jewelry all the time. I think the fairy Vivian in the film represents the psychological hint of the protagonist, and the film shows the protagonist's homosexuality in a subtle way. In addition, this film is a reversal of patrilineal society. There are many expressions about gender in the film, such as the image of multiple men surrounding a woman. Karl explains that the film is a tribute to women who use money unwisely, and what we can see in the film is the society driven by interest and money.

The second stimuli I chose was ‘Scared For Life’ by Tracey Moffatt.
Tracy Moffatt shows her understanding of issues such as race, gender, sexual orientation and identity. She is inspired by childhood memories and focuses on family, life and humanity. She mimics the color and narrative of everyday photography, but what she expresses is a sombre atmosphere. In this way, the viewer can have a stronger empathy with the trauma suffered by the characters in the picture. But on the positive side, these negative comments from others can scar and change the self, but sometimes that change is not a bad thing, so it can also be part of growing and gaining experience. So whether these pictures represent tragedy or comedy depends on the individual's understanding.
